NETFLIX FRIDAY!

1

Since I am a huge fan of the talkies, I present a new segment here on Zoner Sports, which we all know isn’t always about sports. It’s Netflix Friday! It is here that I will discuss what I currently have at home from Netflix, and also shamefully try to parlay that into a free membership. Or not. But I open this up to discuss all things TV & movies.

My wife and I just finished Season 1 of Friday Night Lights, which is so much better than I expected it to be. Last movie I viewed was Paths of Glory, as I am on a Kirk Douglas kick right now. It’s a fantastic film directed by Stanley Kubrick. I imagine some of the film sequences were to that day what those of “Saving Private Ryan” are to this era. Highly recommended.

I have “Hot Fuzz” at home, which I’m told is just hilarious. I liked “Shaun of the Dead” a lot and this is supposed to be even better. Also at home is “Seven Days In May” with Kirk Douglas and Burt Lancaster. It’s a John Frankenheimer film that he made right after “The Manchurian Candidate”. I know it’s blasphemy, but I did not like MC as much as the rest of the world.

A few other Douglas movies (there are too many to list) I recommend:

  • Lonely Are The Brave
  • Ace In The Hole
  • Out of the Past
  • Sparatcus

So if you have any recommendations or bad reviews on TV or Film feel free to drop them here.

Douglas is great in Out of the Past.

On Netflick, I’m watching a BBC modern update on Jekyll and Hyde, called, um, Jekyll. Tons of fun. And the girl from Bionic Woman is on there – a show which I bailed on after 1.5 episodes, after realizing that was a lot of my time just to decide how hot I thought she was (still can’t decide if she’s closer to a 7 or a 9), because otherwise it was cheese city, and not in a good way.

Also, saw Gone Baby Gone – very good overall (though there are some nitpicks, and I solved the case halfway through the movie).
