Gotta say the Bears looked MUCH better than I expected. Having said that, you have to admit the Colts played an awful game and Manning looked rusty as hell out there. It was the best time to play the Colts this year.

And I agree that Tillman is a physical corner, but he gets burned a LOT by that kind of aggressiveness. One game does not a Pro Bowl make, my friend.

The biggest revelation in this game was Matt Forte. He's got some great quickness and his cut back moves are nice. I do wonder how long he can stay healthy, though. Not a very big guy and he'll take some massive hits as he runs very high.

Time will tell, but I think the Bears will at least be a good, competitive team this year. I still think their offense is predictable and won't be enough for them to win more than 8 games.

On a side note here, how about my pathetic Rams??? Can you say WORST team in football and it's not even close? SHEESH.

I like the schemes on both sides of the ball. It seemed that almost every play the defense had 7-8 guys in the box. I'm not sure how much of it distorted Manning, but it sure took the run game out of the equation as it was more of a guessing game when the Bears would blitz. Also liked how the Bears slanted down more to exploit the Colts line. Defense was stellar, but I'm concerned with McGowan and Payne at strong safety. A few crucial missed tackles and they seemed to be all over the place in pass coverage. I liked Turner's conservative approach on offense. Once it appeared that Forte could get 5 or plus yards on the ground, the passing game was effective yet still conservative with short routes in the flats and underneath. If Grossman were out there, it would have accounted for 4-5 more deep balls (incomplete or interceptions) and 3-4 more three and outs. Orton only went long when it was there and it helped keep Sanders out of the Colts defensive equation downfield. Nice calls utilizing the draw on some mid-to-long yardage situations. Also liked moving receivers around in different schemes. Offense looked good, but it would be interesting to see how they would play from behind. Overall, a stellar performance and a nice way to start the season with such minimal hopes.
