100 GREATEST MOMENTS IN SPORTS

2

It’s hard to name the 100 greatest moments in sports history. But the people at Shout! Factory have taken a crack at it as part of their new 5-CD boxset. The CDs celebrate some of the greatest moments in modern history, and the set includes the 100 greatest speeches, news stories, personalities, scandals, and sports moments. The single discs are also available for purchase by genre (Speeches, News Stories, Personalities, Scandals, and Sports Moments).

So what made the cut? The Cubs playoff collapse of 2008? 2007? Um, no. Some of the greatest sports moments remembered are Babe Ruth’s induction into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1936, Pelé’s World Cup win in 1970, and Red Sox World Series win of 2004.

Some of the 100 greatest personalities include Jim Morrison–the Doors singer, not the former White Sox infielder, Fidel Castro, William Faulkner and Benazir Bhutto.

  1. If Muhammad Ali, Mike Tyson’s loss to Buster Douglas and the re-emergence of American MMA is not in the top-20, that list is trash.

  2. Laz says:

Perhaps I may be rocking my burnt-orange glasses, but Vince Young’s unreal performance in the 2006 Rose Bowl has to be in there.

On behalf of Longhorn Nation, I’d like to apologize for Ced Benson’s act in ChiTown
