BEARS ARE BOSS OF THE NORTH
Things change rather quickly, but as it stands right now, the Bears are clearly the class of the NFC North. They are 3-2 and have been in all 5 of their games. I was always skeptical of the Pack and Vikes and the Lie-downs are simply the armpit of the league. Of course, the Vikes get the Lie-downs next week and the Bears go to Atlanta, so it could all be different come Monday. But as a Bears fan you have to be happy with where this thing is, and where it looks to be going.
As much as people have talked about the breakdown of the defense, the Bears have still allowed only 87 points in 5 games. Only the Giants (49 in 4 games) and the Panthers (70) have been stingier than the Bears.
David Haugh writes about one of the players responsible for this success: Marcus Harrison.
“The Bears couldn’t be happier about where Harrison finds himself five games into his rookie season. Sunday’s sack was Harrison’s second, and his sudden impact has made the absence of Tommie Harris the last two games negligible.”
The article also quotes a scout as saying Harrison is just as talented as Harris. Harris played in the first 3 games and managed only 1 tackle in each contest.
Here’s another question for you: which former Purdue QB played better this week–Brees or Orton? It helps when your opponent is the lowly Lie-downs, but the answer has to be Kyle Orton.
Orton is on pace for these season totals: 22 TD, 13 INT, 3520 yds passing and a 61.9 completion percentage. Oh, let it be so!

Wait a minute. I thought you were one of the bloggers who always believed in Rex Grossman. Now Kyle Orton is suddenly the answer? LOL!
Where do you get that from the post? Quite an imagination there…
Okay, let’s just leave it at this. The Bears are NOT “clearly the class of the NFC North”. They’ve played about as well as they can, but I still don’t think they’ll finish ahead of Green Bay or Minnesota.

I can read, bro. I don’t think they are the class of the division now, even though their record is better. Is that okay with you or do you want to spell out for me why I can’t think that way?
I’ll guess: that vaunted Packers offense, or perhaps the Vikings win over the very overrated Saints?
Rodgers is the real deal. And they have very good WR’s and a decent RB, so yes, their offense is better than the Bears.
The Vikings D is very good and on offense they’ve got Bernard Berrian, so what more is there to say? HA! Seriously, though, any offense with Adrian Peterson is solid. They just started the season off slowly with Jackson getting benched eventually, but the more complete QB is starting now. The win at New Orleans was a good win for them.
All three teams have flaws, but I think Green Bay and Minnesota are definitely more complete teams than the Bears.
Why do you think New Orleans is overrated? I didn’t see anyone picking them to go to the Super Bowl this year. They have a GREAT QB and their best WR (Colston) is injured now, but they still moved the ball pretty well against a very good Vikings defense. Their defense isn’t great, but they play well at home. They completely shut down Peterson Monday night.
