Seems like every time the Cubs are in the post season these past 5 years, most experts pick them to win it. I realize a part of that is because they've had some very good teams, but it's almost like all the media folks want them to win it so badly for what a great story it will make. And all that does is put even more pressure (than there already is) on them to succeed. Not sure I've seen a team this talented play that tightly two years in a row.

Gotta wonder what this team will look like next season. They have a bunch of guys signed to unusually long and expensive contracts. Soriano, Ramirez, Lee, Fukodome, Zambrano. Not sure many of the main players on this team are even tradeable at this point.

This is exactly the reason I hated to see all this pre-postseason hoopla. Songs, SI covers, and premature world series tickets for a team that goes out an lays eggs during the postseason. It makes the situation even more of an embarassment. Alot of extra pressure on a team that is already carrying 100 years worth of pressure.

Not that it would have mattered because the Cubs would have lost anyway, but those are some LAME excuses for Pineilla starting Fukodome. He's a hitter who is completely lost and pretty much everyone has known that for 2 months now. Lou has no excuses for not seeing this a LONG time ago.

I just can't get over how tight many of them look. It's a game, guys. Just play and stop thinking about the 100 years or the pressure of being the favorite to win the World Series. But it seems like the Cubs just don't have anyone on this team who can lighten things up.

I can see Harden mowing them down, and frankly he's the only reason I'll watch game 3. I like watching him pitch.

There's an old saying in Chicago. Fool me once, shame on the Cubs, fool me 37 times... Fool me, you can't get fooled again!

I was hoping my comments were right, too. They were based on whenever I had doubts during the season, they always bounced back. But they were so tight it's embarrassing. Theriot's bad at-bat in the 1st with Soriano at 2nd, and then his freak out on hit and run ball were the best indications - those just aren't natural Theriot plays, they're plays of a guy not loose and just playing.

My comment on this very site from a couple weeks ago was that my biggest fear was whether they could maintain their plate approach when it really mattered. They're proving so far they can't.

Though I still think they can win three straight, and maybe being away from home will actually help, it just - I mean - it's like a nightmare of everything that can go wrong. Like I wouldn't believe it if I hadn't seen it.
