PISTONS, NUGGETS BIG DEAL

6

Wow. This is a shocker. Although it is not finalized yet, the Denver Nuggets are expected to trade Allen Iverson to the Detroit Pistons for Chauncey Billups and Antonio McDyess. Apparently none of those players were at the morning shootaround.

The Pistons are 2-0 while Denver has started out 1-2. Not sure I understand this from the Pistons side.

I’m taking a “wait and see” approach on this trade. It’s not as bad on paper as some might think. Who knows. FIRE MORONELLI MANG!

I’m not saying it’s bad; I just don’t get it from a Pistons P.O.V. They already have Rip Hamilton–why would they want Iverson?

  3. dhaab says:

Look at the contracts. Iverson has one year left on his deal and Billups (whose value has dropped over the past few years, IMO) has 4 years left on his deal. Also, McDyess may not even play for Denver and simply retire. So it may end up being Billups for Iverson straight up.

Zoner, why are you comparing Hamilton to Iverson? Hamilton is the shooting guard and Iverson is the point guard. If they’re both healthy, those two in the same backcourt will be a lethal combo.

    I like the deal.

Iverson is not a point guard. Why has Billups’ value dropped? I think it might be the other way around.

  5. dhaab says:

Yeah, I’m not an NBA guy obviously. Whoops.

I guess the reason I think Billups is fading is because his playoff performances over the past few years was pretty average compared to his earlier seasons.

  6. The Zoner says:

Well most of the web happens to agree with you both on the contract and the idea that they will be an awesome tandem.

And AI was a point guard to start his career–and still is an excellent passer.
