THEY HAVE A WIKIPEDIA: SHAVLIK RANDOLPH

0

This week on THAW, Shavlik Randolph. You may remember him from such universities as Duke. You may not have known–as I didn’t–that he actually is still in the NBA. That’s assuming of course, that you knew he made it to the league to begin with. He is currently a Trailblazer.

Randolph was named after his grandfather Ronnie Shavlik, an All-American center for the North Carolina State Wolfpack in the 1950s. (Ronnie Shavlik was a first-round draft pick by the New York Knicks in the 1956 NBA Draft.) He wears No. 42 because it is half the uniform number worn by his grandfather (No. 84).

He also broke his ankle on November 30, 2006, in an accident during practice that teammates described as gruesome, comparing it to former NFL quarterback Joe Theisman‘s career-ending injury.

Shavlik Randolph: Grandfather homage payer, Still NBA player, and Wikipedia entry haver.
