ARIZA FOUL NOT FLAGRANT

3

At least not by my definition. Watch the video–especially the slow-mo–and Ariza’s eyes are looking directly at the ball. It’s completely obvious to me that he was going for the ball and/or Rudy’s hands. While the result was flagrant, the intent was not.

Also, whoever does color for the Blazers broadcast needs glasses. He says “He hit him right in the neck.” Although he did not. Then he says, “I don’t care what you swing at he hit him in the head.” Intent is everything. EVERYTHING.

Thanks to A Stern Warning for the video. They also have a great roundup of the whole incident.

Seriously? How in the world would a ref be able to see the players eyes to know what he was looking at when the foul occurred? Furthermore, how could he know the intent of said player? Your argument is preposterous on multiple levels.

LOL. It’s so obvious he’s going for the ball. And it’s not preposterous. The ref should be watching the defensive player that is guarding the ballhandler.

    Then there’s always the argument….

“Who cares about the NBA, anyway….especially in March?”
