The White Sox managed only 3 runs in a doubleheader against Seattle, but they still managed a split thanks to a great outing by Bartolo Colon.

Colon moves to 2-1 as the Sox won game one. In game 2 the Mariners shelled John Danks, who took his first loss of the year. Yuniesky Betancourt was 4-5 with a homer and 5 RBI. Russ Branyan went 5-5. Paul Konerko drove in all 3 runs the Sox scored in both games. Felix Hernandez dominated the Sox, allowing just 4 hits over 8 innings with 9 Ks. The King is now 4-0.

Kevin Millwood pitched 8 strong innings and Nelson Cruz drove home 2 more runs as Texas beat the A’s 5-4. Millwood has a WHIP under 1, and he has worked into the 7th inning or later in all 5 of his starts. Frank Francisco worked the 9th for his 6th save in 6 tries. He hasn’t allowed a run yet.

Chase Utley jacked 2 homers as Philly beat the Nats 7-1. Cole Hamels left the game after turning his ankle trying to field a bunt, but he is expected to make his next start. Raul Ibanez hit his 7th homer and the Phils have won 5 straight. Adam Dunn hit his 6th homer for Washington.

Chipper Jones was 0-0. He walked all 4 times he was up as the Braves came back to beat the Cards 2-1. Matt Diaz‘ 2-run single in the 8th won it for Atlanta. Jo-Jo Reyes was brilliant in the win, allowing just 1 run over 7 innings with 7 Ks.

Scott Richmond is becoming quite a story for the Toronto Blue Jays. Richmond moves to 3-0 after pitching 7 innings of 1-run ball as the Jays beat up Gil Meche and the Royals 8-1. Richmond is 29 but in just his 2nd season in the majors. He’s allowed just 4 runs in his last 3 starts, all wins. Aaron Hill had 3 more hits to push his average up to .371, and Vernon Wells had 3 hits and 3 RBI. The Jays now claim baseball’s best record, and they lead the majors in runs scored.
