MIKE MacDOUGAL IS BAFFLING
I remember when Mike MacDougal came up with the Royals. I thought he was going to be one of the best relievers in the game. His stuff was sick.
When the Sox got him in ‘06 I thought it was a great deal. He pitched well for them that year. Since then, he has lost the ability to throw strikes consistently. In 2007-2008, MacDougal struck out 51 but walked 45 in just 59 innings.
Friday night he came in to relieve Clayton Richard in what was a close game. He threw 8 consecutive balls and then left the game. Both runners scored. The Sox started the inning out losing just 4-3. When the inning finally ended it was 11-3.
MacDougal has now pitched in 2 games this year. He’s allowed 2 hits and 2 walks while getting just one batter out. I;m guessing that the Sox will have finally run out of patience with him if his next outing isn’t a good one.
