Brandon Morrow is heading in the same direction. Big arm, lots of walks and no command. The Mariners seem to have three of these kind of guys. I would put Damaso Marte in the group too.

I would take Kerry Wood off that list. He was filthy until all of his injury problems. Benitez also had more than a few very good years as a closer. Wohlers was another nasty closer then, all of a sudden, he couldn’t throw the ball to within five feet of home plate. But, all in all, I agree. In the majors you can’t get by on just a 100 mph fastball.

On the flip side, be on the lookout for Red Sox flame thrower Daniel Bard who has also been known to hit 100 mph. He just might be the Sox 8th inning guy in a very good 2009 Sox bullpen.
