Fran, Fran, Fran… Should you be so negative? You hope to see someone fail?! I’m not a big fan of Favre or the Packers or the Vikings (especially since I grew up in Chicago) but your talk about the “me-syndrome” of professional athletes in “this day and age” sounds like an old man’s jealous tirade. I agree with you about the complete disloyalty exhibited today throughout pro sports organizations and by the selfishness of today’s pro players. And I can relate to the fact that retirement flip-flopping is an annoyingly selfish act, no matter the organization you watch. But what is the problem with a pro player wanting to keep playing until his wheels fall off? Why is that such a controversy? And where is your loyalty to the Vikings by saying you’d like for Favre to fail in Minnesota (does your loyalty apply in this day and age)?

I understand the inter-division rivalry thorn-in-your-side issue, but is it really that appalling in today’s entertainment culture? Is it appalling enough to wish someone should fail? Even if they play on your very own team? I’m willing to bet that if Favre succeeded in Minnesota, your QB stock would diminish in the twin cities from the man who took the Vikings to 4 superbowls to the guy who just couldn’t bring home the bacon. Is that what you’re worried about? As a matter of fact, I now hope Favre succeeds just to see you become solidified as a failure. Ironic, huh?

Fran Tarkenton is correct to hope Favre Fails. I have been a Packer fan for 54 years. Farve has turned into a BIG BABY. I hope he Fails also.
The people of Wisconsin and ALL Packer fans should wish him the same.
By the way, Fran Tarkenton was one of my all time favorite QB’s hands down.

What “great quarterback” has made more stupid plays than Farve? I can only think of one, Fran Tarkenton. I liked Farve as a qb. Always wondered why he was not mentioned with the greatest ever. But boy, he would make some rediculous throws.

I think the ridiculous comment was easy for him to say with last year, especially the last half season, in mind. I think if he reflected on Brett’s career as a whole he wouldn’t say that. I’m a Vik’s fan and I think he’s better than what’s currently in place. With the O-line and running game currently in place, not to mention receivers to throw to, I think there would be less pressure on Favre to make those big plays.

Tark has cred, no doubt. But to come out and say he has more stupid plays than anyone else is kind of ridiculous when you consider his career — and especially — his postseason numbers.

I don’t think Tark said anything that was incorrect. Tarkenton inferred that Farve was a great QB, which he is/was. But Farve is not perfect. As a Bears fan, I took pleasure in all the drama with the Packers last year. He became larger than the team and that can only sustain itself for so long.

Also, Zoner compared Brett’s numbers to Tarkenton’s. No one is doubting Brett had the better career, but Tark has done enough in his career to talk about anyone he wants.
