5 NL Pitchers That Should Be All-Stars

Jason Marquis is an All-Star. His numbers are decent. Marquis is 8th in innings pitched in the NL with an ERA of 3.87 and the 10 wins stand out. The 51/36 K/BB is rather weak. You can make a case for Marquis for inclusion on the NL team. But you can make a stronger case for these pitchers:

  • Johnny Cueto, Reds Just 84 hits allowed in 103.2 IP, ERA of 2.69 and BAA of just .223. 1.12 WHIP, 8 wins.
  • Javy Vazquez, Braves An incredible 130 Ks against just 23 BBs, an ERA of 3.05 and a WHIP of 1.05.
  • Yovanni Gallardo, Brewers More Ks than IP, BAA of just .193, 2.75 ERA and just 74 hits in 105 IP.
  • Jair Jurrens, Braves ERA of just 2.73, allowed just 6 HR and 89 hits in 102+ IP.
  • Joel Piniero, Cards Just 12 BBs and 3 HR allowed in 106+ IP. 2 complete game shutouts.

    Piniero has been good so far this season, but he doesn’t deserve to be an All-Star. He’s an average MLB starting pitcher at best.

    But let’s talk about Ryan Franklin. A certain sports blogger said the Cardinals overpaid by a lot when they signed him a few years back. :)

    Winning pitchers don’t care much about stats. Marquis has 11 wins, nuff said!

    o my god is the nl all star manager blind wandy rodriguez should be on the nl allstar team his record is 8-6 with a 2.96 e.r.a with 106 so and a 1.28 whip with 2 complete games both shutouts i should mention where he stikes out 12 batters on a good day all the nl pitchers are guys with big names famous players but you have got to look at the other guys too and when wandy wins 20 games this year the national league will be wishing that they had picked him to be a allstar and when wandy wins 20 games he proably wont even be a candidate because nobody knows his name but one day he will be noticed the astros have a secret weapon that might lead them to a wildcard win or maybe theyll win their division wandy is a dominate pitcher the astros have a new ace roy pitching second with wandy leading theyll definetley have a chance on winning their division or maybe the wildcar you go wandy and the astros!

    another pitcher who should be an allstar is chris sampson he is a relief pitcher who is 4-1 and a 3.00 e.r.a with 27 so in 47.2 inning pitched
