Fresh off the “Real Sports” piece with [tag]Lou Piniella[/tag] comes this from Fantasy Baseball Scout:

The broadcast news and sports guy noted that the Yankees seemed lifeless. The primary offender in Olbermann’s eyes was 3B [tag]Alex Rodriguez[/tag], whom he thought would be out of New York by season’s end. Olbermann mentioned a rumor making that rounds that A-Rod had told people he’d be “playing with Lou” (Piniella, the new [tag]Cubs[/tag]‘ manager).

I’d be all for that. I’m an unabashed [tag]A-Rod[/tag] fan. Why he continually gets dissed is beyond me.

Is it his playoff numbers? In divisional playoffs he has been bad. But in 3 league championship series he’s hit .315/.413/.611.

The price would have to be right. I’m sure Aramis Ramirez would be part of it. Wouldn’t he be something in New York! But even in an ‘off year’ A-Rod totals 300 bases. He has career numbers of .305/.386/.573. I’d bet he could move back to Short in a heartbeat.

What would the offseason be like without inane rumors about the Cubs acquiring every player in the league? (rolling eyes)

BTW, the ONLY way the Cubs get A-Rod is a deal involving Zambrano. Not sure how anyone could possibly think otherwise unless they have Cubs logos dancing in their eyes. :)

Depending on how this year goes, that might be a possibility. But if the Cubs can get Z signed up, there’s no way he’s going anywhere.

But imagine a lineup with Soriano, DLee, Ramirez and A-Rod.
