Any dogs in the house? Apparently it’s Brian Billick.

Over in Baltimore, Ray Lewis has taken HC Brian Billick to task for lousy play calling on his radio show. “It was as frustrating for you as it was for me,” Lewis said in response to a caller complaining about coach Brian Billick’s decision to have Kyle Boller throw the ball three straight times, starting with second-and-one at the Bills’ 49 with less than two minutes to play. All three passes were incomplete.

“As far as decisions, you have to let Willis McGahee touch the ball on one of those plays,” Lewis said.”

The Bills ended up winning 19-14, a potentially huge loss for the Ravens. They are now a half game behind the Steelers, but also just 1-3 in AFC games and 0-2 in the division. Losing to a team like the Bills seems like the one they will look back at with regret.

Of course when you have only 10 TDs through 7 games it might not matter anyway. Only the 49ers, Rams, Falcons—and the Bills— have scored fewer TDs.

Lewis is right. McGahee needs the ball in that situation. Billick out thunk himself on that series.

I heard on the radio on the way home, that Billick went on his own radio show and – surprise – defended Lewis’ right to speak up, and said that he might actually be right, and that he will review the playcalling. Refreshing candor.
