AROUND THE NBA
This and that on pro hoops…
I’m really tiring of the whole Kobe trade talks. I can only surmise that Paxson/Skiles/Reinsdorf must really want him though. I’m surprised all this talk has dragged into the regular season, and that they may be alienating their best players. I’m starting to think this actually might happen because I don’t think Paxson would pursue it now that the season has started without a real shot at getting him.
LeBron James scored just 10 points—zero in the first half as Cleveland lost to Dallas. James made only 2-11 shots. Wow.
It was a mixed bag for Bucks’ rookie Yi Jianlian. He had 9 points on 4-5 shooting, but was limited to 25 minutes because of foul trouble. He eventually fouled out. He did also block a couple shots.
The Spurs’ Bruce Bowen had no points and only 1 rebound on opening night. Coach Pop said: “I wanted to take a look at guys, and he was in and out and never got a rhythm. Hell, he’s like 45 years old. He knows what’s going on. If he loses a step, let me know if that happens. I keep looking for it.” Hilarious!
Any NBA thoughts for the season? I’ll predict 51 wins for the Bulls. As for their postseason hopes, I still think they have as good a chance as any other team to represent the East in the finals. But last night’s opener was a mess. The first quarter was so sloppy. There were so many whistles it got really difficult to watch. I stuck with it though, and it turned out to be a ballgame.
And I don’t get all the Celtics love either. I find it hard to believe those 3 guys can co-exist and succeed. I’m just curious who will feel slighted first.
