B DIDDY SHOCKS THE LEAGUE
And the league was stunned. Baron Davis opts out of his deal with the Warriors and signs with–the Clippers.
“It’s tough, but you have to do what’s best,” Davis said. “You have to do what’s fair. I’m happy with where I’m going. A big reason is because of the impact and the things that I can do going forward. I knew I could have done them here and created all kinds of good things and positive things in the community, and ultimately, me going home helps me make an impact on young kids.”
Elton Brand also opted out of his deal–but to take a pay cut to make room for Davis. Looks as if my dreams of Brand returning to the post in Chicago will never come true.
The Clippers will have quite an interesting starting five next season, and should be one of the more entertaining teams to watch. Their starting five should look like this:
- PF- Elton Brand
- SF- Al Thornton
- C- Chris Kaman
- SG- Eric Gordon
- PG- Baron Davis
Corey Maggette will have to sign elsewhere, possibly with the Warriors. So free agency in the NBA is definitely off with a big bang. Hopefully the Clips get some more national TV time next year, because I’d really like to see them play.
