According to Mike Freeman, the Bears dynasty begins right here and now.

Indeed, if there is any franchise ready to make a New England Patriots-like dynasty run — a highly difficult feat to be sure but not entirely impossible in today’s parity-filled NFL — it is the Chicago Bears.

No team in the NFL (except the Patriots themselves) is better prepared to make a major and sustained Super Bowl run than the Bears. Not Seattle, Indianapolis, New Orleans, or San Diego. No franchise. Period.

The Bears have a stable front office, a roster loaded with exciting young talent and a coaching staff that ranks among the top five in football.

Sounds good to me!

hat tip to Lis–thanks!

Who in the hell is Mike Freeman and how can he be that stupid?
Rex Grossman is the QB of a dynasty? Yeah, sure, that’s gonna happen.
That kool-aid your’e drinking is making you loopy, Zoner!!

I didn’t say I agreed, I just said I hope it to be so. BEARS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • http://www.meaninglis.com Lis

It’s crazy to say the Bears are a dynasty in the making right now. I will say it’s nice to get some media support since every national media writer wrote off the Bears because Lovie’s contract, Tank Johnson getting cut, losing Thomas Jones… blah blah blah. It seems to me that the national media has no idea what’s actually going on in Chicago.

I’m willing to bet after we whoop the Bolts week1 everyone in the media will be riding the Bears.

Zoner, I echo your thoughts: BEARS!!!!!. But seriously this makes sense to me. Grossman is good and the Bears defense is unreal and there all young. this could happen

It seems to me that the national media has no idea what’s actually going on in Chicago.

Ya know, I have the same feeling, especially watching Monday’s game. That broadcast was awful. I think a lot of it has to do with how that network has come to approach their coverage – dumbed-down ideas beaten into the ground with screaming hyperbole. Ugh.

  • http://zonersports.com The Zoner

Right there with ya Lis and PV. Kornheiser kept pretending to know what “Chicago” was saying at home–so aggravating.

Here’s what I wrote at another site on what I thought of the broadcast:

As soon as I saw the contrived, banal “Manning can do no wrong, everything Rex does is wrong” drivel that they call analysis, I was ready to puke.

Kornheiser does not belong in the booth.

Tirico is top notch and Jaws is already solid and will continue to get better. But what does Kornheiser bring to the booth? His stupid little pregame thoughts? He’s no Larry Merchant. Get off the air.

    Kool-Aid drinkers UNITE!!!
If the Bears kill the Chargers in San Diego in week 1, I’ll strip naked and run through downtown Chicago.
    Oh yeah, Grossman SUCKS!

  • http://zonersports.com The Zoner

Even if the Bears do kill the Bolts, we’ll all take a pass on your nakedness.

I don’t think you can throw for 23 TDs and suck. He’s got his flaws and his quirks but he doesn’t suck. It was his first full season.

  • dhaab

Flaws and quirks? It’s his first full season? LOL How many more excuses can Bears fans make for this guy? Anyone who’s been a QB for this many years and STILL can’t take a snap from center sucks. He’s a turnover machine and he’s the guy who handles the ball more than any player on your team. DO THE MATH!!

  • http://zonersports.com The Zoner

Marc Bulger has a passer rating of 50 this preseason! Freak out!!!

It’s preseason. So he fumbled. So what. And he threw one less TD than your boy Bulger last year.

Why do we need to make excuses for him? He had a better year than anyone expected last year.

And he’ll wave to Bulger from the playoffs.

  • dhaab

Wow. I actually used to believe you had some common sense, but it goes completely out the window when you talk about the Bears. Your Bears are obviously a very good team, BUT the reason they’ll get to the playoffs (which they may or may not) is because of their defense and special teams. They bail out your turnover machine QB ALL the time. But that may not be the case this season.

  • http://zonersports.com The Zoner

I have plenty of common sense. It’s the preseason.

Of course the D and special teams are the main assets. But there were games Grossman dominated last year. He’s still a young guy. We used to laugh at Favre saying what an idiot he was and how he was just ‘throwing it up there’. I’m not saying Grossman is Favre, but in his first full season he threw 23 TDs and got to the Super Bowl.

If he continues this path of bobbles then by all means put in Griese.

Check out the next post…it’s just for you!

Doesn’t a team actually have to win something before you even think about using the word “dynasty”?

Now the words “die nasty”…those I can associate with the Bears.

  • http://zonersports.com The Zoner

Ouch! True enough, but the article was based which team is poised to make a run. And also on my wishful thinking.
