BIG TEN NETWORK GAME OF THE YEAR

The Big Ten Network is asking viewers to pick the “Greatest Games” of the 2008 season. You can watch video highlights at their site and then vote for your favorites.

You can vote up until December 15th. The 4 games with the most votes will be re-broadcast on the Big Ten Network on Christmas Day.

The nominees are:

• Sept. 27 – Michigan 27, Wisconsin 25
• Oct. 25 – Penn State 13, Ohio State 6
• Nov. 1 – Northwestern 24, Minnesota 17
• Nov. 1 – Michigan State 25, Wisconsin 24
• Nov. 1 – Purdue 48, Michigan 42
• Nov. 1 – Illinois 27, Iowa 24
• Nov. 8 – Iowa 24, Penn State 23
• Nov. 15 – Wisconsin 35, Minnesota 32

I think I’ll be voting for Iowa giving Penn State their first loss of the season. By the way, who thought Illinois would be 5-7 before the year started?

    Seriously, though, the football Illini were easily one of the most frustrating teams I’ve ever followed in my lifetime. And that covers 35+ years!
    They have tons of athletic talent, yet very few of them actually understand the game of football and how to play it the right way. I do think they’re still young and that inexperience was a part of the reason for the poor play, but the team never seemed to get it as the season wore on. The more I see Ron Zook’s teams play, I’m beginning to understand why so many Florida Gator fans weren’t happy with him when he was their head coach. Hoping things get MUCH better next season.
