CLEMENS IS IN DENIAL

1

The Rocket replies. Saying that roids and the like are “a dangerous and destructive shortcut that no athlete should ever take”, Clemens emphatically denied ever using them. “I did not take steroids, human growth hormone or any other banned substances at any time in my baseball career or, in fact, my entire life.”

Clemens also said he understands Mitchell’s report raises many questions that he will “publicly answer all of those questions at the appropriate time in the appropriate way.” In the immortal words of Judge Smails, “Well? We’re waiting.”

One of the questions I would like answered, at the appropriate time and in the appropriate way, is that if Clemens was offered a chance to meet with Mitchell and explain himself and/or deny it to his face, why did he choose not to? Also consider that any statements made by McNamee that are proven false make him subject to prosecution. For a felony.

Perhaps the Rocket needs more time to cook up something good. He has about 8 pages of the Mitchell report to refute.

    I’m with you, Zoner.

Seems to me that the timing of his denial is hinky.

Why not come out right away and make a statement like this? As it is, it looks contrived and lawyer-driven.

Also, how are all these guys that have “admitted” (since the report, mind you) their use of ‘roids and HGH any better than Clemens? Would they have said anything if if they had not been named in the report.

That’s hardly a confession or an admitting of anything in my book.
