CUBS BLOW LEAD AGAIN
I stayed up for that? Actually it was a very entertaining game. But in the end, the Cubs blew a 4-0 lead and lost in extra innings 5-4.
Enough talk about it being April. 7-12 is brutal.
Scott Eyre ran his ERA to 15 with another bad outing. Eyre has given up 12 hits–2 of which are HRs–and 6 BBs in 6 innings. Wade Miller went on the DL with “back spasms”. Maybe Eyre needs to feel a twinge too. You don’t need three lefties anyway.
My favorite play was when Jacque Jones fielded a routine flyball with a runner on second and then threw a one-hop strike to Ramirez at 3rd. The crowd got considerably louder performing a bit of a mock cheer in light of Jones’ throwing deficiencies. Later Jones made a spectacular diving catch to save the game (at the time). He had a hit last night and hits in every game of the Cardinals series. That’s the Jones I remember that was a thorn in the White Sox’ rear all those years in Minnesota.
Zambrano pitched better, but Lou got him in the 6th when he got into a bit of trouble and was over 100 pitches. He’s still not the same Z as last year.
Rich Hill on the bump tonight against Jeff Suppan.
