CUBS SELLOUT (yawn)
Gasp! The Cubs are going to sell ad space on the green doors of the outfield wall. The ivy shall remain unblemished. But still, is there nothing sacred anymore? No. And there hasn’t been for a long time in the world of sports, if ever. It doesn’t matter anyway. Yes, they are sellouts. They are disdaining tradition for a few extra bucks. I’m sure we’ll now be bombarded with the “How dare they” posts and columns.
At the time I was writing this, a Chicago Sports poll has over 75% of the respondents claiming the new ads would bother them. In a Zoner Sports poll, 54% of those 75% are likely not to notice because they are looking for their friend and waving at them while talking to them on their cell phones.
Get over it. More important is who will be playing CF and has Zambrano signed on the line that is dotted?
