ELITE XC IS COMING TO YOUR HOUSE
The UFC may be the biggest name in MMA, but Elite XC has made some big moves with some big names. And they will have the first ever primetime, live MMA event on network TV, Saturday, May 31 (9:00/11:00 pm ET/PT) on CBS.
2 of the biggest names that fight in Elite XC will be fighting on the CBS debut. The lovely Gina Carano, who you might also recognize from “American Gladiators” as “Crush”, tries to increase her record to 6-0. And internet legend Kimbo Slice will try to post his 3 victory in as many tries.
The card also features some very exciting and experienced fighters with Phil Baroni and Joey Villasenor, as well as Robbie Lawler vs. Scott Smith. While Carano and Slice may be the bigger draws, I’d bet on those 2 fights as being the most entertaining of the night.
If you have yet to watch MMA or are wondering what all the fuss is about, this Elite XC card is a good time to start watching. CBS is also bringing along Gus Johnson to call the matches. Johnson, a practitioner of Brazilian Ju-Jitsu and long-time Boxing announcer, will join Mauro Ranallo and MMA legend Frank Shamrock.
Elite XC has also released 2 DVDs with tons of features. ‘Elite XC: Destiny’ features Carano against Julie Kedzie in what was the first televised female fight, and hard-hitting Joey Villasenor versus Canada’s David “The Crow” Loiseau. ‘Elite XC: Renegade’ features the debut of Kimbo Slice, as well as the lightweight championship fight between Nick Diaz and KJ Noons. Both DVDs even come with–get this–collectible fighter trading cards. Both are also 2-disc sets.
Elite XC is a quality organization with much ambition. May 31st is a huge day for MMA. I hope the fights will be as entertaining as they usually are.
