FUKUDOME IS COMING
Well, at least to MLB. Whether or not the Cubs get him is another story. Sporting News reports that the Pads have made “one of the two or three biggest offers” in team history.
The White Sox are also reported to have interest after getting owned by the Tigers and outspent by the Angels. A good point brought up over holiday party conversation this weekend: How do you think Buehrle and Dye feel now? Apparently part of the negotiation process was what would happen in this offseason.
The Padres need Fukudome more than either Chicago club, and they play on the West coast. CBS Sportsline reports that “The Padres are believed to be offering $36 million over three years, similar to the deal Kansas City bestowed on outfielder Jose Guillen. The Cubs are believed to be at four years and more than $40 million.”
I hope he ends up here in Chicago. With the money some of these guys are getting, 4 years and 40 seems like a steal.
