FUKUDOME ON FIRE
There’s a few great things about the Cubs taking the first series of the year. It was against a division rival and on the road. Even though we are just 3 games in, that is always big in my opinion.
I realize that Russ Ortiz and Brian Moehler aren’t studs on the mound, but if Fukudome did that against the batting practice pitcher it’s worth noting. Certainly if he can be ripped for a poor spring training, he can be celebrated for an excellent regular season game.
Not only am I in this guy’s corner and I want him to succeed, as a Cubs fan I think we need him to win. With Soriano and Bradley in the corners, it’s likely that there will be times when the Cubs are without the services of one of them, and hopefully not both at the same time. Soriano played in 109 games last year. Bradley played in 126, but just 20 of those were in the outfield.
So Fukudome’s bat will be needed. Last night’s performance was a good start.
