GOOD MORNING, MLB FANS
Power bats helped the Cubs beat the Brewers in a very exciting game in Milwaukee. Alfonso Soriano hit a 2-run homer in the top of the 9th to give the Cubs the lead. Carlos Marmol earned the save by striking out Ryan Braun and Prince Fielder in the 9th. Fielder had a double and his first homer of the season.
Albert Pujols smacked two homers, including a grand slam off Roy Oswalt, and drove in seven runs as the Cardinals spanked Houston 11-2. The seven RBIs matched Pujols’ single-game best. For his career,

Marco Scutaro walked 3 times and had a hit in his only official at-bat as Toronto improved to an MLB -best 5-1. Roy Halladay got his 2nd win with 7 innings of 1-run ball.
In that same game, Cliff Lee was hit hard again. Lee allowed 7 hits, 4 walks and 4 runs in just 5 innings. Cleveland is 0-5 and they have allowed an MLB-worst 47 runs.
Paul Maholm had another good outing for Pittsburgh. He allowed just 3 hits and a run in 7 innings as the Pirates defeated the Reds 10-2. Nate McLouth homered again for Pitt. Johnny Cueto threw 109 pitches, so that makes Dusty Baker 4-4 in having his starters throw 100 or more pitches in each game this year.
Bartolo Colon dialed it back a decade in an outstanding performance against the Twins. He had great movement on his pitches and gave up just 3 hits in 6 scoreless innings. Carlos Quentin homered for the Sox and Alexei Ramirez got his first 2 hits of the season.
2 Mike Napoli homers weren’t enough to give the Angels the win against Boston. Jason Bay hit 2 homers of his own and Brad Penny won his season debut giving the Red Sox 6 solid innings.
The Royals scored just one run in a loss against the Yankees and C.C. Sabathia. The Royals are 2-3, but they have scored just 8 runs in 5 games. Kansas City may be the most well-rested city in the nation. The Yanks have won 3 straight.
Jeremy Guthrie won his second straight start and the Orioles moved to 4-1. The O’s had its first six hitters on base and Melvin Mora cranked a grand slam. The Rays did not score but Evan Longoria added 2 more hits.
