GOOD MORNING, MLB FANS

2

Kyle Lohse pitched a complete game, three-hit shutout as the Cardinals beat Houston 3-0 to sweep the three-game series. Lohse struck out four, walked none and retired 24 straight after giving up a leadoff single to Kaz Matsui. The Cardinals swept the Astros.

Josh Johnson went the distance and improved to 2-0 as the Marlins edged the Mets 2-1. Johnson struck out seven and walked one. Johan Santana took the loss despite striking out 13 and giving up two unearned runs. Johnson has given up only one run in 15.2 innings pitched. The Marlins won with only 3 hits.

Kevin Millwood’s 7 shutout innings were for naught as CJ Wilson came in and gave up 6 runs in 1/3 inning. Brandon Inge hit his 4th homer of the year. The Tigers won their 3rd straight and are on top of the AL Central.

The Indians notched their first win of the season. Anthony Reyes won his first start of the year and Cleveland got long balls from Mark DeRosa and Travis Hafner. Check out this line from Blue Jays starter David Purcey:

IP H R ER BB K PIT
4.2 4 5 4 6 10 113

Aaron Harang blew away the Pirates with a complete game, shutout. He allowed just 3 hits while striking out 9 and walking none. Brandon Phillips hit his first homer of the year.

Mark Buehrle pitched 6 1/3 innings giving up just a single and a solo homer to Delmon Young. The Sox got homers from Jim Thome and Jermaine Dye.

Break up the Mariners! Erik Bedard threw 8 1/3 scoreless innings and former Cub/White Sox David Aardsma finished it off for his 2nd save of the year. The M’s swept the A’s and are 5-2.

Tim Lincecum was shelled by the Padres:

The Padres swept the Giants behind a great outing from Chris Young.

Dude, I was at the Tigers/Rangers game yesterday. A real snoozefest through 7 innings. The Ranger bullpen was awful! Inge was the man. But what is amazing is how Miguel Cabrera continues to be among the leagues best, but gets little or no love from the media (I expect nothing less from the Godawful newtork known as ESPN). If he were in New York he’d be bigger than Jeter mang! His numbers are crazy right now. Thankfully he’s living up to that insane contract Detroit gave him! FIRE FORD MANG!!!!!!!!!!!11

PB, Cabrera plays in Detroit, so he’ll NEVER get a lot of national attention. And he was awful at the plate in the first half of last season (as was the Tigers team), so he’s fallen off the national radar a bit these past few years. But I agree with you, the man is a hitting machine.
