David Haugh reports in today’s Tribune that Rex Grossman was surprised that he officially lost his job on Wednesday.
“I was surprised but [felt] frustration,” Grossman said after his first day of practice as the No. 2 quarterback. “You have to move on and realize at any point you could be back out there. If that’s the case, I’ll play my best and get a rhythm going.”
How could he have possibly been surprised? After a year’s worth of massive criticism and then a nuclear bomb of it so far this season, the one thing I would not expect him to be is surprised.
I truly hope he gets another shot but I’m not sure that will happen for him here in Chicago. If the Bears stink under Griese, the season by then will likely be shot. So would you then allow Grossman to play–or would it be better to let Orton play out the string? Grossman is a free agent. Orton and Griese are signed.
Is it possible that all three of the Bears QBs will return next year? And in what pecking order? A city awaits.
