Boo-hoo. Looks like George Steinbrenner’s baby is still…a baby. Hank has taken on the role of decrier, whining about the divisional set-up and also minimizing the Dodgers success this season.
“What if the Yankees finish the season with more wins than the Dodgers but the Dodgers make the playoffs? Does that make the Dodgers a better team? No.” Actually I’d take the Dodgers in 7. And if you want to moan about the divisional set-up, you might want to at least win the games you play against teams like the Pirates and Reds. If you can’t beat the doormats of the league it doesn’t do much for your stance. You might also want to get those big winning streaks going earlier in the year–before it’s too late and the pressure is off.
“We play 162 games to determine the best teams, but why even bother if an 83-win team wins the World Series? Why not just play 30 games and then have a long playoff season? Otherwise, baseball’s regular season becomes almost as useless as hockey’s regular season.”
Hank, how about you just make sure you don’t put any more roided players on the field? Perhaps we should invalidate some of your postseason successes because of that. Not too mention all those games against the expansion Rays and the Orioles, who have stunk for forever.
