Home Run Derby has the story of the one writer–Corky Simpson–that did not vote for Rickey Henderson on his HOF ballot. Wait, wait–his name is Corky Simpson? Anyway, Corky voted for:

  • Bert Blyleven
  • Andre Dawson
  • Tommy John
  • Don Mattingly
  • Tim Raines
  • Jim Rice
  • Alan Trammell
  • Matt Williams

He votes for Raines but not Rickey? Are these people for real?

He cast a vote for Matt Williams but didn’t vote for Mark McGwire because “there is doubt about whether McGwire’s career was chemically enhanced and unless — and until — that matter is taken care of, this voter won’t mark the ballot for Mark.” I love how HRD burns him. Matt Williams WAS IN THE MITCHELL REPORT for buying HGH, syringes and other drugs. And hey, guess what? Tim Raines was pretty chemically enhanced there for a while too.

His ballot is not only illogical, it’s lazy. Do a google search. And turn in your voter’s card.

File HRD’s post under why blogs rule. Great job!

I’m sure it’s a case of an old man thinking “If Babe Ruth and Hank Aaron couldn’t get in 100 percent, no one will”. That logic is so stupid.
