JETER, SHAQ, RON-RON AND MORE
Here and there on a snowy Chicago Wednesday…
Ken Rosenthal has an interesting column on Pete Rose’s hit record being broken by Derek Jeter. Sound crazy? Maybe not.
|Rose vs. Jeter|
He’s on pace. But the reality is he would have to almost double his total hits to date.
Le Basketbawl offers up his 2008 NBA Oscar picks. I’ll add to that a few razzies. Worst direction goes to the agents of Ben Gordon and Luol Deng. Worst picture goes to the Chicago Bulls.
Steve Kerr is making a very bold move in getting Shaq daddy from the Lakers. The Suns have the West’s best record and love to run the floor. The father is broken down and averaging career lows. But Kerr knows about playoff basketball. He knows that come playoff time having Shaq paired with Amare Stoudemire down low will be a huge boost to their defense and post scoring. Kerr likely sees the Suns 14-12 conference record and their ranking of 24th in rebounding and smells postseason trouble. Will it work? It will be fun to watch. Phoenix/L.A. anyone?
And Ron Artest is looking for a new home, stating he would like to be traded. Who will roll the dice on a trade for him? Dallas? Denver? The Knicks? Apparently Jamal Crawford, another former Bull, is looking to get out of NY. Maybe the Heat can go get him. Unleash him with Haslem, Marion, D Wade and White Chocolate.
