KERRY WOOD HURT AGAIN

5

From the Daily Herald:

Jim Hendry said [tag]Kerry Wood[/tag] has a strain in his right triceps, the result of overstriding on the mound in his last appearance.

Hendry said Wood will not see a doctor and that trainer Mark O’Neal with work with him.

“Woody, the other day in the game … the hole in the mound, he said he was kind of extending past it to avoid it,” Hendry said. “He had a little strain in his triceps, the posterior on the bottom, not where he was cut on. So we’ll just give it a couple of days and let Mark work with him. But I’m not anticipating any long-term difficulty. He’s going to skip the next couple days throwing, for sure.”

Pathetic. Ridiculous. We need new words. Nothing describes it. How do these big, strong athletes continually get hurt by the slightest movements? I suppose everything hurts more when you’ve allowed 4 runs, one HR, one BB, one wild pitch and one hit batsmen in just 3 innings.

I hope they both go on the 60-day DL. Zambrano. Hill, Lilly, Marquis and Miller or Guzman. Bullpen of Eyre, Howry, Cotts, Dempster, Ohman and maybe Marmol and Rocky Cherry.

    Egg. Zackly.

I’ve been thinking that Larry Rothchild is the main problem with the pitching. What do you think?

    Hi Bill-
I don’t think I would use the term “main problem”. In fact, Maddux swears by him as a great teacher. And Zambrano has been great and healthy.

But I am certainly surprised he is still employed with the Cubs. You’d think they would have wiped the slate clean. I’d guess that one more year of bad pitching and he’s gone. Of course I thought that last year too.

The Cubbies just need to give up on Wood. He is more injury prone than Barry Bonds’ needles…OOPS!!!

I think that they kept Rothschild because he has good history with Pinella, and they won the World Series together in Cincy. To win with their staff in ’90 was something amazing, let alone going wire to wire.
It seems like the Cubs brass are looking for that combination to be great again.
