MADDUX THROWS COMPLETE GAME

You might have missed the late box score, but Greg Maddux threw his 109th complete game last night. It was a vintage Maddux outing, needing just 96 pitches–and slightly over 2 hours–to put away the Reds. Maddux struck out 5, walked none and allowed just 5 hits. Maddux, always nifty with the bat, also got down 3 sacrifices.
Maybe Maddux just needed to get away from the Cubs. Since his trade to the Dodgers last year, Maddux has a 3.26 ERA over 20 starts. He’s allowed only 1 homer this year and has walked only 7 batters in over 50 innings. Last night was win #3 of the season for Maddux, and number 336 in his glorious career.
