MLB DRAFT HELP

2

From time to time, The Zoner fields requests to participate on other blogs. This is mainly due to the acumen on display at Zoner Sports. It also, sometimes, occurs when they can’t find anyone else. No matter the reason, I’m participating in a mock MLB draft. I will be representing both the Cubs and Sox when they are on the clock.

Your job is to chime in with comments on specific areas you think the clubs should address with their 1st round picks. An independent accounting firm will gather all that information and then I will make the picks.

So bring it. And thanks.

Ok for the Sox 1B Justin Smoak should be the guy you go after, if he’s available. He’s a beast, and fills in nicely as Paulie gets older and Thome leaves. This draft is heavy on first basemen. There’s another kid from Arizona State too, a 1B. Also, Buster Posey, catcher from Fla. State or Georgia shortstop Gordon Beckham (beckman? something like that). Or Derrick Rose. That’s all I got.

Shooter Hunt from Tulane is a beast and a though a righty could be effective in either league. Brian Matusz from the University of San Diego is also just an incredible pitcher and is a lefty to fill a void there. My last two are for later first round picks, Petey Paramore from Arizona State should probably be the second catcher to go. Also if he is left, Yonder Alonso from the University of Miami, a first baseman who could easily play third or the outfield.

    Just my thoughts.
