MORE ON MILLEN, LIONS
Some interesting fallout from the Matt Millen firing.
Did Patty Millen (Matt’s wife) play football? Seems like she took a lot of head shots with comments like these:
“We’re fine,” Patty Millen said. “In the world’s view, this may look like failure. It’s been a hard road, football-wise, but we’ve gotten a lot of eternal blessings. We’ll move forward. I told him, ‘You’re out of football prison now’ and we have a greater purpose.”
That purpose is likely to figure out how to get Millen back in the booth as an analyst and how to spend all that hard-earned money. If that was a football prison, Millen was the one that built it.
Dan Pompei has his take on why the Millen era was such a colossal failure.
Peter King says that the Jon Kitna would be an interesting acquisition for the Pats. “Would the Pats want to deal a third-round pick (my guess) for a guy likely to be productive in their offense, but also a guy likely to make a big mistake in January if they get there? I doubt it.”
And NFL.com’s Adam Schefter has a nice rundown of Millen’s record as GM. He also points out that upon his hiring Millen was immediately the highest piad GM in the league. Wow.
At least the Liedowns won’t lose this week. They are on their bye.
