NAME YOUR BULLS FIVE
Let’s see what 5 players you would pick (and why) to start for the Bulls. Go ahead and assume Larry Hughes is healthy, as if that actually matters. I think his nickname should be 411 because he seemingly always shoots 4-11 from the field. Anyway, here are the 5 I would go with.
PG- Derrick Rose. Duh. Play him until he pukes, wipe it off his jersey, have him swish some gatorade and get back out there. Rose needs to play maximum minutes from day one.
SG-Ben Gordon. It’s not that I don’t like Ben Gordon–I really, really do. I was stoked when the Bulls drafted him and have always been a fan. I just think he is limited in his skill set and he is undersized. But I think Rose can get Gordon better looks and make him more potent on the offensive end. Plus I want Hinrich leading my 2nd team.
SF- Luol Deng. No brainer. Deng has his big contract and the nagging injuries of a year ago are now just a bad memory. Like or not, Bulls fans expect a career year from #9. Deng–believe it or not–is entering his 5th year in the league. Wow. I want to see him get to the basket more. That’s the one thing that has always bothered me about both Gordon and Deng–they should be getting to the hole.
PF- Tyrus Thomas. It’s really this simple. TT begins the season as a starter. If he fails to show max effort and/or increased production then he can go to the bottom of the rotation. He’s another guy that needs to play more minutes. He’s only 22 with just that one year of college. He needs to play. Period.
C- Drew Gooden. I need someone who can play with their back to the basket. I think Gooden is much better than people perceive him to be. Last year in limited time with the Bulls he averaged 14 & 9. I think he can do that all year. He’s a solid pro.
I’m really not sure why Nocioni and Larry Hughes are still here. Noah comes off the bench and creates a nice 3-man rotation with Gooden and Thomas. Gray will see some minutes too. I like Sefolosha but I think he is a bench player from what I’ve seen. Hinrich leads the 2nd team.
