NFL Preseason Week 4: Titans @ Saints
Tennessee Titans @ New Orleans Saints Thurs. Sept. 1, 2011 8 p.m. EST
The New Orleans Saints are in the middle of somewhat of a transition period right now as they have dealt versatile running back Reggie Bush to the Miami Dolphins in hopes of seeing rookie running back Mark Ingram becoming their starter out of the backfield. Along with the rookie running back, the Saints have Pierre Thomas to help shoulder the load, but New Orleans believes that Ingram could be the answer they are looking for to turn this team into one of the best running teams in the league.
It is uncertain at this point in time just how good former Heisman trophy winner Mark Ingram will be this season and whether or not he can transcend his game on the NFL level, but the New Orleans Saints have high hopes for their rookie running back and what he might be capable of.
On Thursday night, the New Orleans Saints will play host to the Tennessee Titans and Mark Ingram might get a lot more carries than usual. With this being the preseason finale for both teams, the Saints and the Titans will be assessing which players are worth of carrying the football out of the backfield.
The Titans have an entirely different situation at the running back position as they have arguably the best back in the game in Chris Johnson. The only problem is that they are right in the middle of a contract dispute with their superstar running back and might be force to trade him which means they need to see if there is a running back that can fill his shoes.
