ON CARPENTER, BELFOUR
Here’s what I wrote about Chris Carpenter just a short time ago:
Some are calling it a stroke of genius. But I can’t understand why the Cards re-signed Chris Carpenter with not 1 but 2 years remaining on his current deal. There’s no denying his quality. He’s certainly among the best in the bigs. But he is a pitcher and a pitcher who has had significant injuries in the past. Add that to the insane economic climate currently whirling through baseball and I’m left to wonder if it’s simply bad business. We will see.
We still will see, as Carp could be fine. But I’m guessing nobody likes the sound of elbow impingement. Except Cubs fans…
Ed Belfour can’t hold his booze.
The 41-year-old hockey player refused and walked toward the officer “in a fighting stance” and pushed him, a Miami Beach police report said.
Belfour pulled away from the officer trying to arrest him and grabbed his shirt. The hockey player then fell forward on the ground, kicking and refusing to place his hands behind his back, the report said.
Not listed in the report was his yelling of “I want my mommy!!”. Recall that Belfour has had scuffles in the past, even offering officers $1 Billion to let him free. Eddie the Eagle needs some help. He’s long past the Theo Fleury Starter Kit.
