ORTON BRINGS IT
We all like confirmation. Makes life a lot easier. Example–when a former boss told me how he thought “The Cooler” was just an amazing film, that was confirmation that he was indeed a pud. I didn’t have to wonder about it anymore. It sealed the deal.
Thursday night was the first time for this observer that Kyle Orton confirmed he can run an NFL offense, and run it quite well. It was only for a half in a preseason game, but I saw things I hadn’t seen to date.
Orton had time to scan the field and did an excellent job finding the open receiver. He connected short, medium and long. His presence was that of a starting QB. He looked like a leader. The results were 10-17 with 147 yards, 2 TDs against 0 picks and a passer rating of 126.3. Wow. Chicago Bears fans needed that big time. We have a reason to hope again.
