PEACE BOWL ENDS IN KILLING
From the AP:A youth football tournament in Cincinnati aimed at calming violent streets was cut short by a deadly shooting.
Police say 19-year-old Earnest Crear was shot and killed just a few hundred feet from the Peace Bowl games. They say three suspects ran off after the murder. A city councilman who was at the event says after the shots were fired, parents rushed to help their children.
The Peace Bowl brought together teams with children between six and 12 years old. It was organized by community groups hoping to promote peace in city neighborhoods. The shooting isn’t believed to be linked to the tournament. Organizers say the killing will not stop the games from happening in the future.
