I should care that he was the governor of my state? That somehow this scandal makes me look bad as an Illinoisan? That’s just dumb. Big deal. Every state has corrupt politicians. So we have more. Hooray. The Dish DVR is set. Call me any name in the book–I can’t wait to watch the show and see the banter between Blago and Letterman. If I’m Letterman the first thing I say after he takes a seat is, “Hey, your hair looks great tonight!”

What’s next for Blago after visiting with Dave? Could he pull a reverse-Ventura? Jesse Ventura went from wrestling to become a governor. Sporting News says maybe Blago can go from governor to TNA wrestling. Kurt Angle has extended his invitation:

“He’s innocent until proven guilty,” Angle said. “As the leader of the Main Event Mafia, I am a huge fan of the Illinois style of politics. As such, Governor Blagojevich is welcome to join me and the entire Main Event Mafia at any and all TNA events in the future, and certainly is welcome to sell his seat with us should he choose not to accept our generous offer.”

I think all this is great. Why shouldn’t we derive a little pleasure from having a corrupt governor. Can’t we all use a little more funny these days?

After countless print ads, bad promos, signal tests and the efforts of a massive street crew to tell all old people what they need to do so they can watch ‘Matlock’ reruns and Judge Judy, the government is now pushing back the switch to digital television.

Why? “(This is) prompted primarily by a slow-down in converter-box coupon distribution due to the combination of a funding ceiling and an accounting problem that prevented more coupons from being sent out before expired ones were redeemed. governement ineptitude.”

Ridiculous.

“A suburban Chicago delegate backing Sen. Barack Obama has stepped down from her spot at this summer’s Democratic National Convention after she used the word “monkeys” to describe two African American children.

“We discussed the incident with her. She decided to step down as a
delegate and will be replaced,” Obama spokesman Ben LaBolt said Tuesday.

The decision by Linda Ramirez Sliwinski, a trustee in suburban Carpentersville, will likely have zero impact on Obama’s delegate count because another one of his supporters will almost certainly replace her.

Police issued Ramirez Sliwinski a $75 disorderly conduct ticket after her neighbors complained to police about the comment. She told the Tribune the word wasn’t meant racially and she will fight the ticket.”

OK, I can live with her having to step down as a delegate. That’s politics. But a ticket and fine? Are you kidding me? So if something someone says offends me, I can call the police and have them ticketed? And just who will make the judgment as to which words garner us a ticket? Your local police?

That, my friends, is a heaping pile of excrement. Would it be OK if she issued incorrect orders as Commander in Chief? Oops, sorry troops, I was really tired. Sorry you died–it’s been quite a day with all the meetings and whatnot. Rubbish.

She can’t be trusted to be forthright on any matter. She has a history of being a windsock. I know another word for “misspoke”. It’s called “lied”. And she didn’t retract her version until she was called on it.

“The more important issue, she said, is whether she would be a better commander in chief than Obama or Republican presidential candidate John McCain. Clinton and Obama are competing for votes in Pennsylvania’s April 22 primary.”

The answer to that is a resounding no.
