QUICK CUBS NOTES

1

Give it up for Jon Lieber. Lieber bails out the Cubs again with 4+ innings of shutout ball and already has 2 wins. He hasn’t given up an earned run in 9+ innings.

No props at all though for the Pirate fans. Almost 70 degrees and less than 10,000 show up to see them. Why do they still have a franchise?

Great series for Geovany Soto. He caught all 36 innings in the series and he went 8-17 with 2 doubles, a homer and 2 walks. This series vaulted him into the top 10 in the NL for RBI, slugging and OPS.

That win makes it 5 in a row for the Cubs. They are scoring plenty of runs, with only the D-Backs and the Braves having scored more runs in the NL.

Tonight it’s Big Z against Philly. Z has only issued only 1 walk in his first 2 starts, and that is huge for him. If he can lower his walk total this year we may see 230 innings from him and the ace-like stats one would expect from him.

Soto is swinging the bat real well now.
You heard here first, though. He keeps catching 6 games a week and he’ll be shell of what he is now in July. Book it.
