REALLY STL? JUAN GONZALEZ?

4

The Cardnials have discussed extending a spring training an invitation to Juan Gonzalez. The 2-time MVP is reported to be on the comeback trail after nearly three years away from the game.

Gonzalez is 38 and was recently noted in the Mitchell Report. Insert joke about La Russa, Cardinals players and steroids here. He was pretty much washed up in 2004 when he hit the last chance dance by becoming a Kansas City Royal. He stunk it up there and signed with the Tribe for the 2005 season. In his one at-bat with the Indians he tore his hamstring.

Maybe there is some new cream and clear making the rounds.

Other players reportedly invited to spring training by the Cards:

  • George Foster
  • Lonnie Smith
  • Sixto Lezcano
  • Mel Hall
  • Larry Biitner
  • Champ Summers
  • Enos Cabell

Should be a stellar year in STL.

Don’t forget Scott Cooper and Tony Scott. We’re pulling out all the stops.

In other unreported Cardinals news on the Zoner blog. Cards trade disgruntled and injury riddled 3rd baseman Scott Rolen for Troy Glaus.

Can’t imagine why Zoner didn’t choose to add that here. :)

BTW, when exactly will that Brian Roberts deal be announced?

If this was my full time gig I surely would have. It’s a great deal for the Cards.

    Scott Cooper and Tony Scott–LOL.

Great deal for the Cardinals? Troy Glaus is just as injury prone as Rolen. I have a good feeling about the Cards this year. That they are going to suck and I will love every minute of it. By the way I will be selling my new “Fuk u do me” shirts at Wrigley this year. What a great slogan!! Sorry for the raw language. Also on the comback trail for the Cards….. Tito Landrum, Tom Pagnozzi, Bernard Gilkey and Bake McBride who looked baked when he played.
