SAMARDZIJA CALLED UP TO AAA
Color me puzzled. Jeff Samardzija has been called up to AAA by the Cubs.
“Samardzija, who signed a $10 million deal in 2007, was 3-5 with a 4.86 ERA at Double-A Tennessee.
“His last five outings have been real good,” said Oneri Fleita, Cubs vice president of player personnel, referring to Samardzija’s 2.63 ERA since he was sent to the bullpen for one appearance.”
He still is a flyball pitcher that lacks control (44k/42BB). He has a few good starts and he’s promoted? What’s the hurry? Does being in AAA boost his trade value? Could he be part of the puzzle for Sabathia?
