Give it up for Trade Sam Smith. 2 outstanding pieces of work in today’s Tribune featuring Mr. Scottie Pippen. Pippen, delusions of grandeur and all, makes for some tasty copy. He talks about why he should coach the Bulls and then proceeds to analyze (read: rip) most of the Bulls players. Oh, and he still trots out that “How many championships did Michael win without me?” line.

Scottie on the Current Bulls

Pippen Itching To Coach

  • Schmidty

I’ll tell ya’ what…while Scottie’s timing on ripping the Bulls players isn’t the best for him to be looking for a job, can’t say I disagree with most of his opinions. I especially like his comparison of Nocioni to Rasheed Wallace. Every time Noc gets whistled for a foul, he’s acting like a total jackass…dude NEVER fouls anyone, LOL!

Agreed. But not the best way to procure an interview for the job.

It’s no wonder he wants to coach. There are reports about money problems–(he got bilked a while back) and he was already bounced from a broadcasting gig. What will he do with his life?

As for him coaching the Bulls? Smith brings up Avery Johnson, Doc Rivers and Larry Bird as examples of coaches without experience. They all seemed to be more heady than Pippen. Not necessarily about the game, but overall. I’d want to see him do the ABA or something for at least a year first.

Scott is my guy and all but he will not be the next coach of this team, nor should he be. Bird, Isiah, and Magic couldn’t cut it as coaches, and i doubt Pip could either.

I am no expert but I do not think Scottie would make a good coach. I could be wrong.

Bird and Isiah (before the Knicks) had successful coaching stints. I’m a Pippen fan and you have to admit, he’s been a winner all his life. Unfortunately, it’s not coaching that would be his biggest challenge; it’s coaching the Bulls. The owner isn’t a friend of Scotties and would have him on a very short leash. Coaching, yes, but start elsewhere.

Pippen for coach? No Thank You. By the way, anybody notice Tyson Chandler ripping it up and Jannero Pargo pouring in 19 against the suns? I wanted Chandler out but I may have been mistaken. The Bulls are going nowhere this year. I was pushing for KG all summer, that was the move to make. The Bull also need a true point guard, way too many turnovers. They are small at guard, every position as a matter of fact. I see them getting worse before improving.

  • Schmidty

Joe…I entirely agree with you on Chandler. I don’t think he would have developed in Chicago like he is in Charlotte. Classic case of needing new scenery. Also, I was at the Kings game last night and was thinking about Brad Miller being in a Sacramento uni. Remember when he was a Bull? Remember that the Bulls just need some post scoring. Boy, what a great deal that was, LOL!
