Tampa Bay Buccaneers Edge Past the Cincinnati Bengals
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers were –6.5-point underdogs this past week against the Cincinnati Bengals and managed to win the game with a miracle last couple minutes. Cincy played well enough the entire game to walk away with a victory, but a couple bad decisions cost the Bengals the victory and pushed them to 2-3 on the season while the Bucs improved to 3-1 on the season with the win.
Josh Freeman has been piecing together a great season so far and was consistent again this past week. Freeman ended the game with 20 completions on 33 passes for 280 yards, 1 TD and 1 INT.
Carson Palmer on the other hand has been doing horrible this season and it continued this week. He threw 3 INT’s with 2 of them coming right at the end of the game. The 1st INT turned into 7 points for TB and the final INT resulted in TB kicking the game winning field goal.
Benson had the running game going for Cincy this past week, as he gained 144 yards on 23 carries, but he wasn’t able to get into the endzone. The Bucs couldn’t run the ball consistently all game, but Graham managed to break away for a 61 yard rushing TD.
The coach and offensive coordinator on the Bengals need to have their heads examined this week. Throwing the ball with a little over 2 minutes left is a horrible play when you’re winning the game by 7. They should have done a draw play and forced the Bucs to call a timeout or wait until the two-minute warning before punting the ball.
Cincinnati came into this game needing a win and should have won the game at home, but a couple horrible calls on the sidelines cost the team the game. Cincy has a lot of work to do now in their division and it’s going to be a battle to try and make the playoffs now after falling to 2-3 on the season.
