They just won’t die folks. SI’s Jon Heyman reports that the Cubs and Orioles have resumed ‘serious’ talks about getting Brian Roberts to the Cubs.

In one of the trade proposals being discussed, outfielder Jay Payton would accompany Roberts to Chicago. The teams have been talking for weeks, and the Orioles have been eyeing pitchers Sean Marshall and Sean Gallagher, outfielder Matt Murton and infielder Ronny Cedeno, among others.

Another reason for Jason Marquis to chill. He still might be needed for the 5th spot. DeRosa moves back into the super-sub position and Payton becomes the 4th outfielder. Makes some sense for both clubs. Plus the Cubs already ruined Ronny Cedeno, so a fresh start for him might save his career.

But we’ve heard all of this talk before.
