THIS WEEK’S NL ALL-STAR BALLOT

1

Call it the Fukodome Effect. How else do you explain the recent results of the NL ballot? Cubs are everywhere. Lee, 2nd. DeRosa, 2nd. Theriot, 3rd. ARam, 2nd. Soto, 1st. And Soriano and Fukodome 1-2 for the outfielders. The great season the Cubs are enjoying has something to do with it. But my money is on all the Fukodome fans from Japan casting a straight Cubs ticket. On to my ballot this week…

1B- Berkman

2B- Utley

3B- Chipper

SS- Ramirez

OF- Ludwick, McLouth, Burrell

C- Soto

Dropped out: Ryan Braun. Braun is certainly a power phenom. But Pat the Bat is having a monster year, hitting .284/.427/.603. He also has 58 walks. Hard to believe he is already 31.

Is it just me or is the NL starting to look much more potent than the AL these days?

Pretty tough to keep Braun and Soriano (even though he’s hurt) off that team. Also, McCann is having a better season than Soto across the board and he’s been good in the past. He definitely deserves the start this year.

Again I’ll say All-Star picks shouldn’t be based ONLY on the first few months of the season. The past performances of players should be taken into consideration as well. Just my opinion.
