If you are a White Sox fan you should be pretty steamed today. Not only did the best available shortstop not named A-Rod get traded to a team not named the White Sox, he got traded to a huge division rival.

Major, major props to the Tigers for getting Edgar Renteria. Everyone knew he was available, and Dave Dombrowski went out and got him right away. This allows the plan of moving Carlos Guillen to first to come to fruition.

A team that scored more runs than any other AL team save the Yankees just got better on offense. And defense. Renteria has 2 Gold Gloves from 2002 and 2003. While he may not be a Gold Glove in 2008, he will do better than the error-prone Guillen. Guillen made 24 errors last year. Renteria made 24 errors in 2006 & 2007 combined.

It’s just a fantastic move, one I wish Ken Williams would have made.
