WEEK 6 NFL THOUGHTS
Quick NFL bits:
–Oakland is so very terrible. Last night they had 13 penalties and I swear it was a combo of Jonathan Quinn and Chad Hutchinson at QB. They named him Andrew Walter. They’ve scored 50 points in 5 games. They should throw long bombs and jump balls to Moss on every play. It would be better than whatever they are running now.
–You have to wonder how much longer the Redskins will go forward with Brunell and even Joe Gibbs. The Redskins lost at home to the Titans yesterday–their first victory of the season. It’s inexplicable that the Skins are 2-4. And they are 1-2 at home, 0-2 in their division and 0-3 in NFC play.
They were up 14-3 and blew that lead at home. Travis Henry ran for 178 yards on 32 carries. “That’s going to happen to everyone.” said Joe Gibbs. Not to playoff teams it doesn’t. The Skins have beaten Houston and Jacksonville at home.
– It’s becoming evident that Mike Vick is not progressing as a passer. Atlanta’s has a good D but good offensive teams like the Giants can score on them, even in Atlanta. The Falcons are a team you probably don’t want to play, but they don’t score enough points to scare anyone.
– I have to give it up to the Saints. They score 20 unaswered to beat the Eagles yesterday and Drew Brees was not sacked by the Eagles. I thought the Saints would be revealed in this game but they made some key defensive plays late and have a slew of weapons for Brees to use.
– Fear the Chargers. LT is the game’s best RB and how they have unleashed Philip Rivers. Rivers was 29-39 for 339 yards with no picks yesterday. Yes it was the woeful Niners, but for the season his passer rating is 100.6 and he thrown 7 TDs and only 2 picks. Unless Denver learns how to get some points on the Board, San Diego will win that division.
